Story Of Seasons: A Wonderful Life - How To Make Money - TheGamer
Though life is definitely more idyllic in Forgotten Valley, you won't get very far in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life without earning money. You play as a farmer with the goal of running a profitable farm, and between your assortment of crops, the livestock you raise, and the treasures you part with, you'll be earning a steady flow of gold in this game in no time.
Our guide has a handful of helpful tips on how to earn money in A Wonderful Life – whether you're more into crops, animals, or archaeology, there's a way to make money for everyone.
Grow The Best Crops
Grow A Variety Your First Year, And Use Fertilizer
We've got every sale price for the crops in another guide, but you'll find that Year One sees a lot of experimenting as you get used to your new life in Forgotten Valley.
Initially, Vesta is your primary source for seeds, and you'll find yourself spending quite a lot with her trying to buy as many seeds as you can early on.
In growing a bit of everything, you'll learn not only what sells the best, but also which crops are best for you personally on your farm.
Some crops are finicky and require set soil types and have longer grow times, so allow yourself the time to find what kind of crops work best for you.
Just keep the growth calendar in mind, as most crops can only grow in certain seasons.
If you prefer faster turnarounds, focus mostly on fruits, but if you're not worried about the wait time, root vegetables often have higher sale prices to start due to their time constraint of taking so long to grow. Experiment and find which crops you like growing best, and which ones turn the kind of profit you're looking for!
Once you have everything down, be sure to apply Fertilizer liberally to your crops as they grow. You can fertilize twice per day, and by using fertilizer, you can increase the grade of the final crop when it's time to harvest.
Shift Your Focus To Hybrid Crops After Year One
While the regular crops you can get from Vesta are perfectly fine for bolstering your wallet in Year One, almost immediately in Year Two, you'll meet Vinnie, the strange plant in Takakura's house who will make hybrid seeds for you once you befriend him.
Once you're able to make hybrid crops is when your real windfall begins, as hybrid crops always sell for more than their parent crops. If you're focused purely on earning an income
To make hybrid crops, you'll need two different seeds or crops, a good friendship with Vinnie, and a good amount of patience, as you need to make your hybrid seeds one at a time.

Unlock The Amazing Field As Soon As You Can
As soon as you've made at least one hybrid crop seed with Vinnie, speak to Takakura on a subsequent day. He'll tell you that he can clear the land at the back of your farm to make a new field for you.
When the field is finished, you'll get an entirely new field where you can grow even more crops than before. And not only is it larger, but this new field boasts the most fertile soil on your farm.
The upgrade costs 60,000g and can be purchased from the Ledger anytime after having this conversation with Takakura.
Even the pickiest of crops can thrive, as all crop seeds can grow in this field due to the soil quality. Your hybrids require better soil, so the new field is an excellent place for them to grow.
Fruit Tree Seeds Sell For More Than The Fruits With The Seed Maker
Fruit trees can be quite a time investment, but while the actual fruits themselves do have their uses in meal preparation, if you're trying to earn gold off the literal fruits of your labor, you'll need the Seed Maker to make that happen.
The Seed Maker will allow you to insert up to 12 fruits or vegetables at a time, and after a short while, you'll receive two seeds for every one piece of produce.
Not only can you boost your hybrid crop production like this, but since fruit trees take quite a lot of work to boost the grade of the fruit itself, a simpler option is to convert the majority of your tree fruits to seeds, and sell them that way.
Unless they're of a rather high quality, two seeds will almost always sell for more than one fruit. While the Seed Maker takes some time to work its magic, the time investment is worth the wait.
Get The Best Products From Your Livestock
Turn Animal Products Into Refined Goods
While it's great to have a variety of livestock and chickens to cover all your assorted product needs at first, you'll eventually be able to focus on specific dairy-based products, as these net a far higher price.
Star Cows cost the most of any livestock, but the Star Milk that they produce is a higher-quality milk than a normal dairy cow.
While you start with one Normal Cow, you'll eventually get to build the Processing Room, which can make Butter and Cheese from Brown and Marble Milks.
These only come from Brown and Marble Cows, respectively, which are more expensive than standard cows, as the intention with the milk they produce is to turn their milk into other products to increase the sale price.
Once you get a goat beginning in Year Two, you can also make Goat Butter and Goat Cheese to increase the value of this already high-value product.
Befriend Your Animals For A Better Base Product
To get better quality products from your livestock, you'll need to bolster a connection with them, which we explain a bit more in detail in this guide.
This can be from caring for them, feeding them Fodder+ as a treat, and talking to them often.
Animals that like you will produce better Animal Products for you, and better products sell for more, so it's always worth it to give the snuggles and brushings they're asking for!
Sell Whatever You Don't Need
There are a handful of ways to offload your crops, animal products, and general merchandise in A Wonderful Life: from the Shipping Bin, to Van's store when he's in town, or by opening a store of your own.
Each selling method has its pros and cons:
- The Shipping Bin is conveniently located on your farm, but you can't sell everything through it, and it takes a day to get your money.
- Van's store helpfully accepts every item and will pay you immediately, but as a traveling salesman, Van only visits twice per season.
- Opening a store means you can sell everything and receive the money immediately (occasionally even befriending the townsfolk) along the way, but you're beholden to foot traffic and the time investment can be large.
For more details on how to sell your products when you're ready to offload everything and earn money in A Wonderful Life, check out our full guide to selling your goods.
While it is helpful to keep a few items in your storage for your own use around the farm (like making meals or for gifting, for instance), it's best to sell the majority of your harvests and animal products as soon as you're able to get the gold sooner than later.
This also goes for extra flowers, dig site finds, and fish that you're not intending to use otherwise - don't sit on easily-sellable items.
