In case you didn't know, a multilevel marketing company (aka an MLM) is a company that emphasizes both direct sales and recruiting other people to join the company and work under you so you can also receive a percentage of profit from the inventory they buy and sell. Amazon Prime Video MLMs have been around for decades. One of the most well-known MLMs is LuLaRoe, a leggings company that has had a ton of scandals in recent years and ultimately had to pay over $4 million to settle a lawsuit that claimed it was running a pyramid scheme*. But trust me, there are plenty of others out there! NBC *Pyramid schemes are illegal, while most MLMs are legal. Because of the pressure MLMs place on their reps to sell inventory and recruit more people, marketing tactics can sometimes be...a lot. And sometimes, people call them out on it. Essay: Don't fall for the signs. Vector Marketing exploits student ... - GW Hatchet

Infiltrating the halls of campus buildings, a highly controversial direct sales company that former employees have called a pyramid scheme, is targeting students desperate for a wage. Posters advertising a lucrative employment opportunity with a base pay of $25 per hour hang in hallways and classrooms on posters and whiteboards from Funger Hall in Foggy Bottom to West Hall on the Mount Vernon Campus. They claim to offer full- and part-time positions and working hours without any previous experience required. The only thing missing? An explanation of the work itself. The only description is a vague label that reads "Customer sales/service" near the bottom of each poster. But the truth behind these posters is darker than one may think at first glance. Headlining the posters, you'll find the name Vector Marketing, a sales company that promotes cutlery. With a self-reported employee base of nearly 85 percent college students, Vec...

Bank scam that began with a text message ends with woman losing life savings: "My whole world fell apart" - CBS News

Image
In a stark reminder of the growing threat of financial scams, Deborah Moss, owner of a small catering business, found herself ensnared in a sophisticated bank scam that started with a seemingly harmless text message.   Moss, who had dedicated over a decade to building her business, says she had finally accumulated enough savings to pursue a peaceful life in rural Guerneville, California. But her dreams began to shatter after she received a text message purporting to be from her bank, Chase, inquiring about an unauthorized $35 debit card charge from another state. Initially dismissing it as a minor inconvenience, Moss promptly replied. Shortly after replying to the text, Moss received a call from someone claiming to be a representative from Chase Bank, with the caller ID displaying the bank's name. On the other end of the line was an individual identifying herself as "Miss Barbara" from "Chase ATM." She requested permission from Moss to issue a new debit...

Image
Mario Tama By Antonio Velardo Investment Thesis We believe that this is a very compelling opportunity for several reasons. First, the company has a strong brand name and loyal customer base, which can support long-term growth prospects for Herbalife Nutrition ( NYSE:HLF ). Second, their direct selling model involves giving personalized product recommendations and building a strong relationship with the customers, which can provide Herbalife with a competitive advantage over traditional retailers. Third, Financials are improving with well-built revenue growth and profitability. Finally, the controversies surrounding Herbalife have led to an undervaluation, creating a potential buying opportunity. We believe that alongside lower P/E, the company is also trading below EPV. Business Introduction Herbalife is a multi-level marketing company that offers a variety of nutrition, weight management, personal care, and sports nutrition products. It was founded in 1980 and is headquartered i...
